The Rainbow Centre is looking for a compassionate, resilient and motivated Rough Sleeper Support Worker to join our Client Support Team. You’ll work alongside people experiencing homelessness and complex challenges, helping them overcome barriers and access the right support at the right time.
This role is about building trust, working in partnership, and making real, lasting change in people’s lives.

Rough Sleeper Support Worker (12 Month Fixed Term)
Location: Scarborough
Hours: 20 per week (over 5 days)
Hourly Rate: £14.82
Contract: 12-month fixed term (funded by North Yorkshire Council)

We are seeking a Rough Sleeper Support Worker to join our Client Support Team, working with people experiencing homelessness and a diverse range of challenges including mental health issues, substance misuse, social exclusion, domestic violence and involvement with the criminal justice system.
About the Role
You will:
- Build positive, trusting relationships as the foundation for change
- Carry out assessments and develop person-centred support plans
- Provide practical, social and emotional support
- Work closely with North Yorkshire Council Rough Sleepers Team and local partners
- Strengthen referral pathways into health, housing and community services
- Advocate for clients and ensure continuity of care
This is a partnership-based role requiring collaboration across housing, health, social care and voluntary sector organisations to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed support.
About You
You will:
- Have experience supporting individuals with complex needs
- Understand homelessness, mental health, substance misuse or related fields
- Take a trauma-informed, non-judgemental and person-centred approach
- Be resilient, empathetic and passionate about social justice
- Work flexibly, including evenings or weekends when required
This post is subject to enhanced DBS clearance.
